Vanalinn Gloves

Phew. Finally finished these!
These are my first pair of gloves complete with fingers and thumbs.

Project Specs (Rav links):
Yarn: Knit Picks Palette: Blue Note Heather (only used one skein too!)
Needles: size 0 (2mm) dpns and circ
Size: Followed the pattern exactly, except for fingers, where I ended up doing my own thing. The longest (middle) finger measures 3 1/4", and yes, I do have long fingers...

Some of you already know that the first time around with these I knit all the fingers too short. It took me awhile to realize this (still don't know how I managed that!) and since I didn't feel like reworking all the tips of the fingers, these went into the stash box while I tried to forget about them.
About a week ago though, I was reorganizing my stash and I found them in their project bag and guiltily placed them on my desk to work on.

A few days later, and I had gloves!

The pattern is great, and I was really enjoying this project, but as I got closer to finishing and I tried the gloves on, I realized that they made my hands look huge. I don't have very large hands, just long fingers, but they managed to make me have "monster hands" anyway. :(

However, I got a chance to show them to my mom and when she tried them on her hands looked fine! I think because they are a bit too big for me they make my hands look a little disproportionate to my body, but since they fit my mom's hands perfectly, there was no problem there?
But, truth be told, I don't think she was very fond of them either...

After blocking though, they really did improve, the lace settled down and they look a lot better.

At the very least, they will be serviceable, and I think they are growing on me.

I'm a little bummed though that they made my hands look so awkward. I was looking forward to casting on for a pair of Selbuvotter mittens, but I don't want to spend all that time knitting something I won't end up wanting to wear...any thoughts?

Beautiful gloves! If you think they are big, you could try to carefully felt them a little bit, since Palette sticks like crazy. But I think they look great as they are. Nice job!

I love them. Do they keep your hands warm? I'd be great to find some to gift them to.

I think they look fine. But I hope to give a first hand impression on Thursday night. (and I might even bring a Latvian mitten along for the ride).
