Yes, I finally did it. Purchased a spinning wheel. The Schacht Ladybug.
Image from Schacht Website.I love it.
At Detta's Spindle on Saturday I tried out several wheels, but I still ended up deciding on the Ladybug. It was the last wheel I spun on that day and I knew my original feelings about it hadn't changed. It just feels perfect for me when I spin on it.
Once I got home and assembled my wheel (very easy, just had to attach the treadles and flyer) I tried spinning on it.
It took me awhile to get the tension adjusted but once I finally got it I pretty much spent the whole weekend spinning away.
(Please ignore the bobbin with the blue yarn on it. I was experimenting with Navajo plying and was paying so much attention to the making the yarn that I completely forgot to change hooks, thus it wound on quite unevenly.)
Oh, and thanks everyone for helping me to decide what yarn to use for the Featherweight cardi! I'm pretty sure that I'll end up using the white Cascade sock yarn. Based on my previous projects using the Misti alpaca I'm thinking that that yarn might actually have more of a tendency to shed on the black dress than the white Cascade so I'm going to make a swatch in each yarn and double check that before I get started.
Stay tuned for some spinning FOs. :)
P.S. Where's the signature ladybug on my wheel? Behind the drive wheel, centered between the two back handles.

Glad it's working out for you. Now we need to get together so I can share what little spinning knowledge I have!
That's so cute! Can't wait to see what gets spun :)
