Eureka!

Thank you all for your pattern suggestions for the sock yarn.

In addition to your ideas, I looked through my favorites on Ravelry and found several patterns I thought might work.
After a few more knit-and-frog sessions, and the realization frogging the yarn upwards of 3 times only resulted in a slight, barely noticeable halo, I knew that despite my misgivings, this yarn was born to be socks.
Maybe that's why they named it Cherry Tree Hill Supersock (cough)...


After going over the pros and cons of several different patterns, I ended up choosing the BFF socks (Rav link).

The leg is a bit large for my taste, but aside from that, I love the way these are turning out, the yarn is patterning very nicely, though a little bit of a colour pool happened at the instep area.
